I recently saw a webcast with two tragic stories about texting and driving.
A young man was texting, crossed lanes, and hit a car head on killing the two men in it who were on their way to work that day.
He spent a month in jail (he was around age 19 or 20). He’s now 26 and does speaking events and is a truly remorseful and sad young man.
There was another story from a dad whose daughter was texting and slammed into a divider. She seemed okay and quickly called her mom it appears before moving her car and along came a van and hit her. She then died.
Over the weekend I was at a light waiting to turn. When the light changed for those who needed to turn, a young woman driver in the lane next to me waiting to go straight (with a red light) also started to go and slammed right into the back of the car in front of her. She must have caught a glimpse of green and thought she should go. However the car in front of her wasn't going since it was a red light. She was paying no attention and when I was waiting for the light to change I could see she was looking down at something...don't know what she was doing.
This really needs to stop.
