Chinese hackers have broken into the records of eight major telecommunications "giants" and have gained access to cell phone records, conversations, text messages, contacts on both business and individual accounts.  The specific companies were not listed but may be on line.  Reported by ABC News.

YIKES...I have a relative who keeps EVERYTHING on her phone...   She actually called me STUPID for not having my "life history" at my fingertips.     di

I read this happened in December 2024, and they were going after government officials' records.

Re: Telephone Hack

[ Edited ]

Well, I wonder what repercussions might happen as a result of unnamed, supposedly unsupervised persons, who seem to have carelessly, penetrated, however many of our US citizens personal records & info of late.

Might be judicious for all of us to be even more communicative with one other, (esp with ppl that we know), & be even that much more extremely careful & alert.  (esp, as we peons might become more & more squeezed with prospective changes.  We dont know.)

(added:  For yrs, Ive used my various Yahoo Accts & never had any penetrations. I stayed away from GMail cause I heard GMail was very very porous.  Well I uploaded a Cell pic file of mine, ONLY to me, from my Cell to my Gmail.  And next thing I know, my sister got some kind of an email from my GMail acct!  I have NOBODY listed in my addresses in Gmail!.  Somehow, Gmail got her addy.

Yeh, Gmail is VERY Porous, by gosh!!

I don't see it in my current news.  There was reporting backing in December though.

Can you cite this news?

I keep nothing of a financial nature on my phone. And I never place online orders from my phone, EVER. It's me that I don't trust, I was always afraid of losing the phone.

Isn't there enough bad news to worry about now? Don't need more.
