The American Red Cross as well as other blood banks require people to wait 12 months before donating blood after they've had a tattoo because tattooing involves injections under the skin, viruses such as HIV and hepatitis B and C can be transferred into your body if proper precautions aren't followed.

Good! I wouldn't care if they all went away! I think they are gross!

I kinda like mine. Got it in 1958 and it still is a pretty rose. Gross? Are you talking about the person or the tattoo? I agree some tattoos I do not like and I have yet to see one in person I found to be gross, and I've seen many.

I mean all of them are very unbecoming on the human skin. ALL of them!

I like mine and would never think of removing them. My first one is a Lyle Tuttle and it was quite the thing to do back around 1970 in San Francisco. Lovely memories. Each of my other ones also hold dear memories. Of course I was never silly enough to put a SO's name anywhere...

Don't look, then. Those of us who have them, like them. We don't get them because we're worried about what people like you think. Our prerogative, which actually doesn't concern you in the least. So sorry that tatts offend your delicate sensibilities, but they are NOT going away because you think they are ugly.

Love all my tattoos and would never think of having them removed. I think that those who do only got them just because it was a fad and not because they really wanted them just as so many follow every ridiculous fashion trend - only fashion isn't permanent but it's still the same concept.

Just as it is your prerogative to get them it is my prerogative to hate them.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the business is booming.

Reasons cited are breakups of relationships immortalized in tattoos. The other reason is that many people who got them are now trying to get jobs where having tattoos will be seen as a negative.

It is a painful, costly, process.

I'm glad I don't have any.

Just make sure that the person can spell!
