You have to wait 24 hours for the payment cycle to go through.  Most people buy gift cards for gifts or future purchases,  not to use them that very same day.

Thanks for posting this! I didn't know about it and was planning on going to Target for four $50.00 cards for Christmas gifts. I received a free $200.00 Target gift card for opening an account earlier this year. I was able to get each card for $45.00 which left me with $20.00 for myself!

I got a 100 dollar one for my daughter today as one of her Christmas gifts. 90 bucks for a 100 dollar card is good!. (I get each of my kids and grandkids 100 dollar gift cards in additon to their gifts) The others wanted other gift cards though. But my daughters like me and loves Target.
