It has been years since I watched a jewelry show on qvc but distinctly remember on a tanzanite show the presenter saying that it will run out completely soon and forget about finding large stones. Yet, now apparently there is another 20 year lifespan on the mine and for a small stone qvc's price seems too high...yes I know about the other elements but it's more valuable for a bigger stone.

Ok, I like jewelry just as much as the next person. BUT, with all the problems going on i:e gas prices, food prices, rising utility bills. Why would QVC put extremely expensive jewelry on Today's Special Value. The prices for these beautiful jewels are through the roof !
It's my understanding that any TSV is approved and a date is scheduled about 6 to 12 months in advance.
When they probably scheduled this TSV, the world situation looked a little different.

In the early 90's we had war and then in 2001. QVC didn't stop selling expensive or non essentials. This whole the world is different now is gaslighting.

I have too much jewelry already. I don't need to be buying more, expensive or not. I won't be toting my hoard with me to the pearly gates so I quit buying it some time ago.

this appears ro be a really high quality tanzanite. Gorgeous color. It is 18 K gold. I am thinking... Tanzanite is so hard to find in this deep color, and it's in a gold setting. Everyone has different lifestyles, needs and wants. Some buy things from QVC almost daily, or weekly. There are those who may not buy anything from Q all year, but splurge on a ring. For me, it's not so much the cost,( although this isn't chump change) as,"c'mon Shoekitty Do I need this?" lol I'm with @SilleeMee , I need to downsize. But I am so glad to see real gems, and real gold. Not costume or clad jewelry. Still thinkin....

Regardless of cost or what others can or cannot afford to buy Tanzanite is not among my favorite gemstones and I don't find this TSV ring particularly appealing.

This made me laugh! I keep thinking about this everytime I want to stock up more on precious metals given what's happening. Not sure I'm going to the "pearly gates" but I know I can't take my "hoard" with me as well! LOL!

I've been retired for 10 years so I don't really spend much on jewelry now. But a few years before I retired I bought a Tanzanite pear shape pendant in 14K white gold. It is a lovely deeper color and I spent quite a bit on it. I purposely did not buy a ring because I knew tanzanite is a softer stone and I'm picky about my gemstones.
I was super careful with it and only wore it twice. The second time was when I went to a baby shower which was a 2 hour drive each way.
When I got home I put it back in the safe. Months later I was checking my jewelry and took the necklace out. For some reason I louped it and was shocked to see a tiny scratch on the surface. I absolutely KNOW it did not have that scratch when I bought it. The only thing that could've scratched it was my seatbelt.
Now I wish I hadn't spent the $$ on this. Yes, it's beautiful. Yes, I love it! But I'm so disappointed that it has a blemish on the table and I caused that. If it was a few hundred dollars, no big deal. But not gonna lie here, I regret spending so much on an expensive stone that is so easily scratched.
