I think every Dermatologist office should have a picture of Brigette Bardot.
I didn’t know who she was when I saw her picture in a frame on an end table in the waiting area at the Dermatologist …
BUT it was scary enough to make ANYONE and EVERYONE wear SUNSCREEN !! 😳
She was a 5-pack-a-day smoker, too.

Yet most of these influencers will then turn around a do a skin care video completely contradicting themselves after cooking in the sun all day. They will be keeping dermatologists busy.
I am not so sure skin cancer awareness was as broad in the 80's as it is now, but I was a kid so who knows. We wore sunscreen but I think we reapplied only when we went to FL on vacation or the ocean. People these days should know better about the sun as the messaging is out there. But then again, in my early 20's I was aware of the damages of tanning beds and went religiously for 2-3 years or so, 3-4 x a week for the maximum time limit. I regret the damage I did daily.
Sidebar, I am completely over everything having to be labeled "-maxxing" It is ridiculous and grinds my gears.

I have mentioned before that I am several shades lighter than Casper. I have never liked being outdoors but I also do not like looking like a jar of paste. For those of you who don't go in the sun but want to be tan -- may I ask what products you use? Thanks!

@judy0330 I don't aim to be tan, only flesh-colored in spots. I dust on Laura Geller Baked Blush N Bronze "Natural Finish" in key areas. I have a couple other bronzing creams like L'Oreal's. But Laura Geller is my favorite. I am also several shades lighter than Casper. ![]()

Laura Geller also has a "face and body" bronzer (A732662). I've been wanting to try it. But the colors that are available--the light shades are always sold out--always seem too dark for my ghostly skin. Maybe someday I will try it. I do like her products.

I would get very tan and not burn (thank you Italian ancestors), but I know better now. I stopped doing that in my 30s. Luckily I survived. No major sun damage, wrinkles, or splotchy skin. I didn't think younger people were still into tans but evidently I know nothing! I'd rather be pale as a ghost than have skin damage or hose horrible fake tans.
I used Bain de Solei, too! (I've been trying to think of the name of it). I didn't use it for protection. I used it to get a good tan! It sure worked. My derm said I looked great and that all that would happen was I'd probably get wrinkles when I was 60 instead of 70. That was enough for me. I could care less! I kept tanning. I didn't have any wrinkles when I was 60. And he never mentioned using an SPF. I don't think it was invented yet.

I thought she wore her wrinkles well. She still looked pretty to me.
