Tampa is under a stay-at-home order, too.

The authorities need to enforce it.  The mayor of New Orleans is now having police break up any large gathering and arrest the leader of any such group.

Here's another one.

CENTRAL, La. — Hundreds of people flouted Louisiana’s COVID-19 ban on gatherings, coming on buses and in personal vehicles to the first of three Sunday services at their church a day after New Orleans police broke up a funeral gathering of about 100 people.

An estimated 500 people of all ages filed inside the Life Tabernacle church in Central, a city of nearly 29,000 outside Baton Rouge.

@MorningLover

The police didn't just break up the funeral; they arrested some people.  That's what it will take with some of these idiots, and other cities need to do the same thing.

Since they apparently have a direct line to their god, I do hope their prayers include more than just themselves, but they are so selfish, I doubt they do.

@roxxy1

Im shocked Hillsborough cops or Tampa police weren't called because to my knowledge Mayor Castor issued a "stay at home order" for the City of Tampa.  Perhaps,this church is not inside the city limits.

I haven't heard of any other orders issued as yet in our area.  Most local government officials are cautious and asking only to follow CDC guidelines, including in my county.

I agree no common sense there just open for "collection box" ...ugh

Liberty University has reopened despite the virus in all 50 states. It is now reported that 1 dozen students have become ill

I do believe in religious freedoms but where is the common sense in these church leaders? Is it money?.

@chiclets, unless it's changed, farmer's markets are exempted from the closings. I don't understand that either. I think that any venue in which it is possible for people to congregate should be closed.

I think these are extremely reckless behaviors. I don't care how clean his building is, this is not right. Its horrible.

There is a church in Arkansas that had some sort of childrens festival maybe 3 weeks ago, the name of the town is Greers Ferry. If you google Greers Ferry Ar church, it willl tell you all about it.

@suzyQ3

I was thinking about the farmers market.

Could it be it was allowed to be open because they were selling produce and other necessary items, and then other vendors selling anything just went and sold.

Even if so, social distancing was not happening. Ugh.
