Talk to me about handheld vacuum cleaners

I'm looking for a handheld vac, preferably light weight and corded, not rechargeable.

My Shark has attachments but the darn think falls over whenever I use them.  I've looked at the stick vacs with detachable hand helds too, but can't justify buying a whole new vacuum just for that feature.

I would appreciate any input - thank you!!

I love my Oreck handheld vacuum cleaner- it's a power  house! It's sometimes referred to as a compact canister.

I've had a Black & Decker for several years and am very pleased with it.  It's rechargeable; not sure why you want to steer clear of this type.

I know you said not cordless, but I am in love with my new handheld vac.  Black & Decker Pivot 20 volt max handheld vacuum.

I like it so much that I bought a few for Christmas gifts for this year. I got it on Amazon.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I've had 2 Sharks and Black and Decker dissatisfied

with each one.  Short on power and longevity.

I have a Dirt Devil - had it for about 20 years ... works just fine.

I second that Oreck handheld corded vacuum. I've had mine forever. It has a lot of suction. You do need to replace the bags but they are not too expensive.

After I burned thru some dustbuster types with very inadequate dust systems, I got a stick that can convert.  In the end it has been both less expensive and more satisfying.  Mine is a older Shark.

Re: Talk to me about handheld vacuum cleaners

I bought this one from Amazon.

It's a handheld, but then comes with the stick attachment to make it work like a regular vacuum.  I wanted something super light for doing the stairs.

It's basically replaced my Shark liftaway.  I barely take that out anymore.

I wish the cord was longer, but it's really not meant to be a full service vacuum.
