Jubilant be careful when you visit.  You may not go home.  That is what happened to our family. Humidity is the only down side but you should not have that issue in the fall.  Best wishes for a great trip.

Just wanted to say if you plan to come in the fall Book Early!  Tons of people pour in to see the fall colors, they are usually spectacular.  Locals affectionately call them 'Leaf Lookers'.

Re: Taking Vacation to North Carolina...Need Suggestions

Before you come to NC for your trip, I suggest watching "The Last of the Mohicans" with Daniel Day Lewis.  It was filmed entirely in the NC mountains so you'll see some gorgeous scenery,  The shot of the bridge which is reflected in water was filmed at the Biltmore house, a must see!   Besides, Daniel is heavenly in this flick!

Thanks!  I will keep that in mind.  Ha!  We Hoosiers are used to flat lands so the mountains look pretty spectacular to us.

Re: Taking Vacation to North Carolina...Need Suggestions

We went to Ashville about 3 years ago and we visited The Biltmore, but didn't stay there, we stayed at a nearby Marriott.  We had a great time and you got some great suggestions have fun.  I don't think I'd go in the winter, those mountains are big, we went in May.  If you ever go to the beach areas of North Carolina, the Outer Banks, Wilmington area and Southport, NC are all great.  Coastal Living just name Southport, NC as one of the happiest seaside ports.  We're acutally thinking about retiring in the Wilmington area in a few years.
