Today 9-13-16
Mt. Rose ski resort in Lake Tahoe, NV got its first snow of the season today. It’s still technically summer.
Mt. Rose has the highest base in Lake Tahoe at 8,260′. The summit is way up at 9,700′.
They (Weather , Northern California and NV ) are predicting, lots and lots of SNOW for the 2016 thru 2017 Season. California, may just get out of its drought.

We were surprised this morning with rain. We are heading up to Tahoe for a couple nights for a little getaway. We just may see snow.

Unfortunately one year of rain/snowfall is not going to get us out of the drought. It's a common misconception. It will take 4-5 years of good moisture to bring us close to where we should be. Plus that snow they are predicting, has to have good water content.
