I'm not convinced we've seen the last of our presence in Afghanistan, should it devolve into the haven it was 20 plus years ago.

Just wish the same could be said for all those abandoned 😔
There are no troops abandoned there. The military operation has ended and all troops are out. Hopefully never to risk their lives in Afghanistan again.
Mitary operations rely heavily on local support and staff to be safe and successful. If you feel no loyalty for those that have been employees, collaborators and friends to our soldiers, well so be it. I am sick as to what they will now face having been abandoned.
War is not pretty. We cannot save an entire population. We couldn't do it in 20 years and over 2000 American lives. The option was to leave our troops in, exposed to being blown up. If you care about our troops, you want them home. Pick your poison.

All the money that was spent in 20 yrs., lives lost ,and also all the machines ,all all we left there! All of this bothers me.

Should we continue to spend money there? The machinery belonged to the Afghan government. We supplied it. I read and heard we've disabled the majority of planes, tanks, etc.

Why would another nation now befriend our troops? Thankfully our troops do not feel the way you do. They understand the need to work together and protect eachother, it is called trust.

No idea what this means, but ok.
I'm sure the troops are happy to not have to do a third tour of duty, risking their lives in a war that should have ended 15 years ago.

Anyone who wished to leave Afghanistan has known for a long time that the US was leaving. Plans should have been in place for US citizens and deserving Afghans to get out.
The end to this was going to be incredibly messy. There was no way around it. The record shows that 122,300 have been safely evacuated, including 5,500 US citizens. That was a monumental job getting them to safety, kudos to our brave military. There was no way we could get every last person out of there. Don't forget, 8/31 was the Taliban's deadline to leave.
To get remaining people out, diplomacy will be used, especially using a third country. The US has frozen billions of dollars that the Taliban sorely needs and that would motivate them to deal.
I am sorry that so many are still left there and fear for their safety but our government is fervently working to get them out.

Bet they are glad they left behind dozens of service dogs locked in cages to die also. What a mess this was.

Oh I want all of troops out of this war that I can agree on. Just not like this. No one can defend the exit.

For all who got out, U.S. acknowledged they didn’t evacuate All who wanted to go. There are Americans who wanted to leave the country but were left behind. None of them made it to the airport and were unable to be accommodated.
Praying for them!
