Re: Tables reserved for '13 Brave Fallen Soldiers'

[ Edited ]

This has inspired me to set one empty place setting at my own table, with an American flag across the plate and a remembrance candle lit in honor of ALL of the brave warriors who have protected us and our way of life every day, many who sacrificed everything.

On our community FB page, there is a post showing every restaurant that has chosen to do this where we live. As of this afternoon, every mom and pop place has done this; none of the chains have.

It's very sobering to walk in to have a bite and see this.....as it should be.

A wonderful way to remember all the men and women who put themselves in harms way all over the world.

What's sad is, this isn't done for every soldier that has died.

They get forgotten.

Why aren't they honoring ALL of the soldiers who died?

Their names and pictures should be plastered everywhere too, not just a select chosen few.

Being a soldier, marine, airman, or sailor is a dangerous profession.  Many have lost their lives all over the world in both peace and wartime.  Just because they are not included in this latest memorial does not mean they are forgotten.

Re: Tables reserved for '13 Brave Fallen Soldiers'

We can never sufficiently thank all who fought in this war or supported the effort in one way or another.

Genuine warriors are very special people who subordinate their own needs and wishes to the needs of others or to an objective/a higher purpose that seeks the greater good of mankind.   Their fearlessness is remarkable.  I just bet, though, that they have moments of crippling uncertainty but they persevere unlike those of us who are on the more timorous side.

I stand in awe of the brave warriors who tried their best in all circumstances.  Bless them.  If they perished during their service, may their souls be blessed.

I agree in principle but not in practice. There isn't enough room for that many place settings. Patrons need a place to sit too.

And I think many, most even, really do mean what they are saying about this and that it is not just performative. They actually do care about previous troop deaths as well. This is just how they are expressing that, and their sadness about all the lives lost. Not only these 13 soldiers' lives matter to them.
