Did you see where the married couple slept????? Right in the main living area while 8 siblings slept in the bunks one door down. Talk about awkward and not a lot of fun.

I know a lot of folks don't like the Duggars, but at least they have a big house to accommodate all of their children. Whatever makes them happy, but I won't be watching. As far as their dating requirements, don't the Duggars espouse the same philosophy?
Agree, just another Duggar family. They all lived in a tiny house at the very beginning of their series. The Duggar kids can't have friends, they are homeschooled (one person cannot teach ALL grades and my guess is many of the younger kids are very behind in learning) , the parents pump out kids that the girls then are forced to raise, none of them can date - if you are a female you really lose out - dad picks your husband and none of the kids can be alone for any reason until they are married so they don't get to really know each other. Don't get me started on 20+ year olds who require chaperones to go everywhere.
I always thought the idea of parenthood was to raise your kids to know the difference between right and wrong so they would thrive and set foot out into the world with the ability to handle life based on their upbringing. Will never happen in the Duggar or this Allen family. I stopped watching TLC when this channel no longer was "The Learning Channel" but one where families with a lot of kids and multiples is now all it shows.
I don't like how some of these families shelther their kids so much either. I watched part of the Jill's wedding and was surprised and what a big deal her dad made out of her leaving home. It was strange to me. I'm thinking she was glad to get away as most young people are.

I'm not so sure - the older Duggar girls have all raised their younger siblings. If you watched the early years, you'd see Michelle pop out another child, she nursed it for 6 months and handed it off to one of the older girls to raise. In later episodes you will hear Michelle describing a specific child as being part of Jill's "team" or Jana's or Jessa's "team". These older girls had the responsibility for the younger ones on their team. So I'm wondering if leaving home for these girls now marrying would be bittersweet cuz it'd be like walking out on your young children as opposed to raising your child to 18 and them leaving because it's time. You'd think she may be glad to get away but in their world there was never any privacy and how life always has been. The girls all shared one bedroom and the boys did as well. Imagine being in your 20s and your toddler sisters are all in the same room. Being alone is foreign to these kids and I suspect it is for the Allen kids as well.

Beancounter, I understand what you are saying, although Jill did seem to be anxious to be with her husband.

I watched the majority of it the other night. I was really curious because I have a relative who sings in a major southern gospel quartet. Although the group doesn't live on the bus, they are on it 3 or 4 days per week and sometimes longer.
I consider myself a minimalist and don't need much to survive but I value my own space and a "few" items that would be considered luxury items. Heck, if you live on a bus, just about ANYTHING would be considered a luxury item....LOL!
