I hope this isn't too far off topic. Although not an obit, the thread reminded me of this:

 

The feud between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford was widely known.  When Bette received word of Crawford's death, it was reported that she said, "You should never say bad things about the dead, only good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good.” 

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.
