Re: THINGS THAT POP INTO YOUR HEAD

I guess it's safe to say this is normal since so many of us are experiencing this.

A couple of years ago I went to my high school reunion (40 years), well of course that was a blast from the past.  But since then I once in awhile think of a couple of people who have passed away in our class.  They had nicely done a table with their pictures and each had a rose lying in front of them.   Every now and again one of them will pop in my head, especially a couple that I had gone to school with since kindergarten........they all died young as I am only 60.  It brings a sad feeling over me even though I hadn't seen them since high school.  Feels strange......

When I was in the third grade, some 50 + years ago, my mom had gotten me a 'permanent' for my hair.  It was horrendous ! I had tight little curls all over my head.  Being about 9 or 10 years old, I didn't want to go to school looking like that - so I wore a scarf over my head, tied it under my chin and sat in class with it on.  The girl who sat behind me decided that I needed to take the scarf off so with one fell swoop, she grabbed onto the back of the scarf and jerked it down off of my head.  I'll remember that for the rest of my life.

@sarahpanda ..I think I would remember that too for the rest of my life.  Whether or not she was by nature a mean person you will never know, let's hope others didn't have to experience her mean personality.

I was a junior in HS. It was what was called Health Class which went on for only 2 weeks in place of gym.  The teacher (also the gym teacher) was small and wiry but a no nonsence tough as rocks masculine looking female. She was showing a film on "that time of the month".

I was in the last row, best friend sitting at the desk next to me. Teacher had the projector on a table near us. She kept having problems with it. At some point while she had stopped the film and was fiddling with this big projector trying to get it running right my girlfriend and I started quietly yapping about something or other totally unrelated to the film and we laughed at something one of us said.

Next thing I knew I felt a wicked pain in my back and almost passed out. It took me a minute to get myself alert and breathing and aware of where I was. She had gotten ticked off because we were laughing and hauled off and punched me hard right between my shoulder blades. Not a word was spoken by anybody for the rest of the class nor after the bell rang and we filed out and down the hall. I think everybody was in shock.

My Mom found out about it days later, and I don't know how, and whew did she get upset. Probably a classmate told their mother and they told my mother. I don't recall if my Mom ever went to school office and made a complaint or not. To this day I can remember the pain and the feeling of trying to catch my breath.

If that happened in this day and age that teacher would probably be arrested.

@shaggygirl    How awful,  in today's world not only would she be arrested, a lawsuit can be filed and you would be awarded a large sum of money.  Back in the day people got away with a lot more than they would today.
