It's easy to look up amusing background on these odd names.........

 

Just do an internet search for the town and state, and some info (usually from Wikipedia) will come up and  provide  colorful history about the town name. 

 

Only takes a few seconds of search/cut/paste.

Climax is a city in Decatur County, Georgia, United States.

 

The town was named "Climax" because it is located at the highest point of the railroad between Savannah, Georgia, and the Chattahoochee River.

 

The population was 280 at the 2010 census.

@Sooner ... Oklahoma was correct. No worries! The way it's pronounced it sounds like "Oak..."
