@hellokitty ..................I am from Champaign County and used to live at Indian Lake, worked at MidWest Express (Honda) before I retired.  Lived just west of Bellefontaine at one time too.

@Imaoldhippie  I'm from Bellefontaine but don't live there any more.  When I was a young child we would go to Indian Lake and watch live entertainment brought in by the local radio station. (back in the late 50's early 60's)  After I suffered through the music they would let me ride some rides.

 

My parents told me that when they were younger many of the big swing bands had concerts at the Lake.

@hellokitty ...........My mom said that there was a round building on one of the islands (forget the name) and they would have the big bands there, lots a famous ones.

 

As a teen went to the amuzement park and as a young adult went to a place called Mildreds Electric Malt Shop, lots of dancing.  

 

My brother still lives there.

 

I live in North Carolina now.  But my son and his family live in Champaign County and we visit there quite often.

I always liked that song. I remember being surprise it was the Cowsills...
