I send thank you notes as well as cards for those I know who are sick or have had a death...in our Sunday School class.

I think it is rude (my opinion only) especially in our small class that a death is not ackowledged.  I don't know if others in the class do the same or not, and no one has ever acknowledged my cards...which I do not expect..but sometimes I have said to a person...thanks for the card, I appreciate it.

@Mom2Dogs Welcome!🥰 WOW! I am surprised that ANYONE would NOT acknowledge a condolence card, but understand the different value systems of people! I do however concur; it IS RUDE!!!🙁

THANK you SO much for caring to share!🤗

I prefer to send an actual card.  I feel it's a way of letting the receiver know that they are important enough for me to take the time and write a personal message.  Electronic or texts says "I can't be bothered to spend my time picking out a card or writing a not expressing my feelings."  I feel the same about receiving them.

@rms1954 Welcome!🥰 Although I much prefer personal, written espressions of gratitude I absolutely concur about how electronic means might suggest my importance in the life of the sender. There are exceptions though, since this has become the accepted only standard of communication for SO many people/😊

THANK you SO much for caring to share!🤗

Do depending...  otherwise I pick up the phone or text with a video of me opening gift, or whatever. It depends.  For deaths. I use cards and phone calls. I am not in a position as a 76 year old retiree to get thing that needs notes, lol. I am the one usually sending the gifts, flowers, money etc.  the younger generation under 40 or so texts or emails thanks. My granddaughters friends send me this fabulous, movie worthy videos thanking me and showing me gift and the gift in action.    I love those and keep them they are so funny, sweet and get to see them. It is,special.  I have 2 granddaughters that send me thank you notes for special gifts the younger girls and the boys can't even read cursive, lol!!!  I sent them a letter once and they had trouble reading it. Idk about other districts, but here in NoCal, they don't teach it. Good grief. Or clock time either. Some kids trouble reading other than a digital watch.
Todays generation has many wonderful attributes and assets, but ask them who Emily Post is or Amy Vanderbilt..is....

@SandySparkles   Oh yes, I'm old school on this, and I send a LOT of cards, notes, thank you notes, thinking of you cards.  It makes me happy.  A list of many people, catching up with birthdays, holidays, get well wishes.  Still some older friends that don't use computers, iPads or phones.

My good friend of 40 years passed away last year, and I really miss her 1-2 per month cards and notes.  It's becoming a forgotten art.  I love receiving a hand written note.  I miss her terribly.

@lynnie61 Welcome!🥰  Awwwww! Reading your sentimental post  tugged at my heartstrings!💝 I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend!!! How WONDERFUL it is to have had such a treasured friendship!❤️

YOUR post encompasses EVERYTHING I feel regarding the topic!!❤️ It has been refreshing to read how many others enjoy sending and receiving personal notes AND cards as well!😁 Like you, I feel that one day it WILL be a lost consideration and courtesy as we know it, so I appreciate it even more presently!😁

@shoekitty Welcome!🥰 I THOROUGHLY enjoyed reading your post, but WOW @ children being unable to read cursive writing!😲This makes me thankful to have grown up when I did!😁 Some of today's youth are doing AMAZING things, but our practices of etiquette and decorum are foreign to some of them simply because it is no longer being taught!😐 Times, they are a changin'.😁

Definitely send them and receive them. I just gifted a plant with planting instructions to a friend of a family member whom I've never met (the friend, not the family member) and she sent the most beautiful heartfelt card to me; it made my day! I like sending greeting cards, too, in hopes that they're received as warmly as I receive mine when I open up the mailbox. With so many using everything electronically now, I think it's more personal to send snail mail greetings. My mother always had an address book; it's difficult now to do this because everyone only has phone numbers in their phones and never addresses saved anywhere. I'm guilty of being able to contact some non-local friends via any source other than social media. I need to fix that!

@Carolina925 Welcome!🥰 I enjoyed reading your post!❤️ I think the idea of sending a plant with planting instructions is such a sweet idea, as it represents "life". Every time she waters or replants them, she will undoubtedly think of you, and perhaps smile!😁
