Re: Sweet or controlling neighbors?

Unless you have some reason to believe differently, I would take it as an act of kindness and be VERY appreciative.

Re: Sweet or controlling neighbors?

In my old neighborhood, if any of us knew that one of our neighbors was having some challenges we'd step in and mow that person's lawn. Same if we knew they were on vacation. It was a pretty cool arrangement.

So as others have said - give them a thank you or some baked goods, or assist someone else randomly and pay it forward.

Re: Sweet or controlling neighbors?

I think it is "Sweet" !   I have a small landscaping account as a little side job,

(something I enjoy doing)  I also mow, and walk my mower across the

way to mow elderly neighbors front yard just because.

I think it is a nice and neigborly thing to do for someone.  I think they did

that for you because they wanted to.....  Sweet ...... not controlling.

Here is my question-I live in a town home with no HOA.  We do hire snow removal, but as far as yard work, we all do our own (or hired by the individual).  I have a very small flower bed that was put in before I moved in.  I will eventually re-do it cuz they just threw some bricks down and some dirt and called it a flower bed.  I have been working on it for 3 years now as far as keeping it looking halfway decent with planting some flowers (was all weeds when I moved in) and spraying and pulling weeds.  Mostly dandelions.  I have bad knees, so can't kneel down but do take a lawn chair to sit in and pull weeds.  Can't do it for very long, but I do it as long as I can.  I got up this morning and noticed that the rest of the weeds had been pulled.  I did not see anyone or hear anything.  Should I be grateful or resentful?

I thought about putting a note on my tree thanking them and that my house could use a good cleaning too!  haha

Unless or until proven otherwise, I'd accept that they knew it was a struggle for you and were being kind.

Re: Sweet or controlling neighbors?

While I'm sure the person meant well, it was presumptuous to do any weeding without asking first. It would have been kind to offer giving the OP the opportunity to accept or decline; the OP the power to decide about her own property instead of having the decision made for her.

I agree.  It would never cross my mind that this was controlling.  Whatever their motivation, it was a nice thing to do.  And there doesn't seem to be the slightest reason to assume that their motives were anything other than pure.

My neighbors "crab" about everything........even the color and variety of my potted flowers.     One of them even screamed at me for wasting plastic because I was bagging my trimmings...................

I had a neighbor who crabbed about the neighbors' trees.

"Messy" he said.

He moved, thank God.  Hopefully to a vacant lot.

Re: Sweet or controlling neighbors?

@cookinfreak ... I think one of your neighbors saw the trouble you were having pulling weeds and just decided to do a random act of kindness. I would be grateful and not take offense. Sounds to me as though you have a very sweet neighbor. Smiley Happy
