Most every chain restaurant known in the USA is present in this town near Phoenix. Two more are nearing their grand openings. If you want to eat dinner without a long wait, you need to be seated at 4:15...seriously. These restaurants employ many young people and the chain stores had signs up for workers.

There is a major freeway going in near the town which employs many and those workers are benefitting the community.

The foo-foo mall in Scottsdale, and the old section of town with the pricey galleries, was packed. We gave up trying to find parking anywhere near the galleries.

It may depend on where you live, but the economy is picking up again much to the dismay of the doomsday people.
