Supermarket Store Worker Tested Positive

Just found this out this morning. I don't shop there, but it's a major chain in this area. They immediately closed the store.

DD's close friend is a nurse about 1-1/2 hours from here in a small hospital. Two days ago there were 4 positive cases admitted - all were doing well. This morning she FaceTimed with DD for an hour. Her shift is later on today. They now have 68 admitted, some in critical condition.

I haven't heard what it's like at our local hospital. I don't think DD knows a nurse there, but one of her friends knows two of the ER nurses.

I was toying with the idea of going to the family-run market I go to. Not today.

Hello, if you on line to your county web page, you will likely see a COVID19 update link.  At least my county has one.  I don't know what size town / county you live in, but just a thought.

Thanks @Drythe -- We do have that, and I get e-mail updates. But from what I'm learning, the hospitals are telling a major part of this story. I know a lot of people who either have mild symptoms, or who are quarantining at their own homes, probably aren't counted.

When DD talked to her friend this morning and asked the ages of the people on the ventilators, assuming they would all be older, her friend said, "All ages."

Re: Supermarket Store Worker Tested Positive

It had to happen. I thank the clerks every time I'm in a store now, but didn't realize the store could close down if one of them tested positive. If anything argues for stocking up, this does, especially if you're in a one-store town or can't get to other places.

I feel bad for everyone who's helping us get through this and risking their health in the process. I got an email today from the CEO of Big Lots, which said, among other things, that they're paying their associates an extra $2 per hour temporarily, presumably until the governor's orders are listed. Their stores sell a lot of food and sanitizing products, so they're open.

Wish all the stores were bonusing their front-line employees.

A friend of mine works at a grocery store as a cashier and became ill Monday. They first tested her for the flu and when that came back negative, they sent her out to a drive thru testing test.  She found out yesterday she was negative.  Not sure what she has but she is sick.

A friend just told me that at his supermarket one of the cashiers and one of the pharmacy techs both just tested positive.

We were just talking about how the grocery store is just about the worst place to go now if you want to avoid this virus.

You might check your State or County Health Department  (HDP).  Ours are updating every 12 hours.

Re: Supermarket Store Worker Tested Positive

We have had two grocery employees come down with the virus.  Both stores were disinfected and remain open.  A third employee is presumptive positive.  I shudder to think how many people were infected from those incidents and don't know it.

I wish the grocery stores would put up the plexiglass shields at a minimum.

Ridiculous overreaction.

This virus will more than likely infect the majority of people, and not just Americans, who will recover, just as they do from other infections. Are they going to close every store? Every pharmacy? Every bank?

This isn't the apocalypse. The cooped-up and the masked have been duped into thinking that these measures are necessary and reasonable.

They're neither.

20% hospitalization rate. How many ICU beds does your local hospital have available? Since you are sure it will affect everyone including you, might as well get prepared.
