I've noticed the "so....", too, and I've noticed a variation of that with the use of "so, yeah....." as a kind of transition from one statement to another. A LOT of people use that "so, yeah" thing.
I hate these fad type words too, but in my case, the sad thing is, I pick them up eventually and overuse them too.
I'm hanging my head in shame right now. I hear myself using them and I think "what am I doing?" I recently heard myself use "pant" instead of "pants" and I never did that before.

I’m very grateful that people have finally stopped sharing information with me. For goodness sake, say it, scream it, text it, send it by mail, put it here on the table, or don’t do it at all, but please do not share it with me!

Often beginning a sentence with so is needed because it refers to what came before.
What I've noticed lately is the use of Ugh which is an unpleasant word and belongs exclusively in comic books along with pow and wow.

My cringe term is "colorway/colorways" instead of colors. A few hosts use it on QVC.

The most overused word in my world right now is “perfect”.
I made my selections for a luncheon I was planning and heard “perfect”.
I bought a new car and made my selections and was told “perfect”.
These are just off the top of my head, but I’m hearing that word too often these days.

The use of "grab" just brought back a memory from high school, one I hadn't thought of until this thread.
I once used the word in a class, English I suppose, in which we were writing stories and had to read them out loud. In my story, I used the phrase "grab a sandwich" and everyone (students as well as the teacher) thought it was terribly gauche.
Even now, I think it was effective at expressing what I meant. It was the 1960s, in case you were wondering. ![]()
