Many people need you in many different ways. No one else can take
your place. Lord, You blessed me with special abilities and need me
to use them in this world. Thank you.
Scripture for the day:
"He has said, 'I will never leave you or forsake you.' So we can say
with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What
can anyone do to me?'" ~Hebrews 13:5-6
Meditation for the day:
"I will never leave you or forsake you." Down through the centuries,
thousands have believed in God's constancy, tirelessness, and
unfailing love. God has love. Then forever we can be sure of God's
love. God has power. Then forever we can be sure;, in every
difficulty and temptation, of God's strength. God has patience. Then
always there is one who can never tire. God has understanding. Then
always we can understand and be understood. Unless we want God to go,
God will never leave us. God is always ready with the strength and
power we need.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may feel that God's love will never fail. I pray that I
may have confidence in God's unfailing power.
Hello my friends! Today I received the great blessing of time! Time spent
with my daughter, Lori and it was priceless!! I just mentioned to Linus
this morning how it's been long since we really had a nice visit with her
because she's so busy etc. and now with owning her own house etc. lots to
do. Well - guess what? She is buying a dog from the Humane Society and he's
a rat terrior, about 15 pounds or so, white with a couple black spots, and
they estimate he's about 10 months old and full grown. They found him out
wandering so he's a stray, and they have to wait for a week to see if
someone claims him, if not, he's Lori's! So today she picked me up and took
me to the shelter to show him off, and we had him in a caged area to get to
play with him, he's already a great ball catcher! And a warm, affectionate
dog! They bonded, and he even bonded with me. So Sammy will have a friend!
Now to get Phoebe to tolerate him, that's the trick! She is thinking of dog
names, like Teeko, Oliver (Ollie), Toby, etc. but hasn't picked one yet.
She's been researching a lot about rat terriors and likes what she reads.
She is very excited, so we went shopping for a crate, leash, collar, some
chewies etc. It was fun! And she stayed for supper, we had hamburgers on
the grill, and we just visited a lot - about the wedding to come, shoes,
etc. etc. and it was such a big blessing to us both. She talks about
bringing her dog over and we all take our dogs for a walk etc. and that
sounds like fun! Togetherness is always good! Families are great
blessings: Hope you all can share your blessings with us too:
Mother Teresa Said...
"Let the praise of people not destroy the peace
in our hearts and make us restless.
It has been given to us;
let us give it back to Him with great love.
They cannot give praise to all.
It has been given to One --
but it has been given to the lepers, the children,
dying patients -- all.
All that work is only a drop in the ocean,
but if we neglect to put in that drop, the ocean will be less."
Live A Life That Matters
Ready or not, someday it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to
someone else.
Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally
disappear.
So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you
lived, at the end.
It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.
So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you
got, but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice
that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence, but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a
lasting loss when you're gone.
What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those
who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of
circumstance but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.

A young fella rushed into a service station and asked the manager if he
had payphone. The manager nodded, "Sure, over there." The boy pushed in
a couple of coins, dialed, and waited for an answer. Finally, someone
came on the line. "Uh, sir," he said in a deep voice, "Could you use an
honest, hard-working young man to work for you?" The station manager
couldn't help overhearing the question. After a moment or two the boy
said, "oh, you already have an honest, hard-working young man? Well, OK.
Thanks just the same."
With a broad smile stretched across his face, he hung up the phone and
started back to his car, humming an obviously elated. "Hey, just a
minute!" The station manager called after him. "I couldn't help but
hear your conversation. Why are you so happy? I thought the guy said
he already had somebody and didn't need you? "The young man smiled.
"Well, you see, I am the honest, hard-working young man. I was just
checking up on my job!"

Don't Give In To Anger
The evidence that anger kills, is growing every day. Doctor Redford
Williams says that the stress hormone cortisol, which fuels anger,
literally tears blood vessels, causing damage to your arteries.
Continuous anger prevents the healing process from taking place, so
once the damage is done, a single bout of rage can trigger a fatal
heart attack.
Jesus said, "Don't lose a minute. Make the first move; make things
right. Do it now, otherwise an inevitable process starts working,
and continues until you have paid the last penny in pain and distress"
(Matt. 5:25-26 paraphrased). Set it down, before it costs you the
race! Forgive! Even if the person who wronged you never admits it, or
seems to suffer for what they've done; forgiving will set you free
and enable you to move forward, and that's what's important!
Never underestimate the power of forgiveness. It's the one power you
always have over the person who hurt you. Lincoln said, "The best
way to destroy an enemy, is to make him a friend." Forgiveness will
put a spring in your spiritual step, and give you a second wind for
the race of life. Go ahead, forgive, and see what happens!
TO BE THANKFUL FOR

The mess to clean after a party because it means I have been
surrounded by friends.
The taxes I pay because it means that I'm employed.
The clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough
to eat.
My shadow who watches me work because it means I am out in the
sunshine.
A lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that
need fixing because it means I have a home.
All the complaining I hear about our government because it means we
have freedom of speech.
The space I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I
am capable of walking.
My huge heating bill because it means I am warm.
The lady behind me in church who sings off key because it means that
I can hear.
The piles of laundry and ironing because it means I have clothes to
wear.
Weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I
have been productive.
The alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means
that I'm alive.
Getting too much email bogs me down but at least I know I have
friends who are thinking of me.
Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when The alarm rings, thank
you, Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long
as possible, thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.
Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising, thank you Lord,
that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.
Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost,
toast is burned and tempers are short, thank you, Lord, for My family.
There are many who are lonely.
Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in
magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced, thank you, Lord, for
the food we have. There are many who are hungry;
Even though the routine of my job often is hard, thank you, Lord, for
the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.
Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my
circumstances were not so modest, thank you, Lord, for life.
Pass this on to the friends you know.
A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift.
A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift.
A friend is someone who fills our lives with Beauty, Joy, and Grace
and makes the world we live in A Better and Happier Place.
Prayer to the Most Holy Heart of Jesus
Most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I love You. With a
lively sorrow for my sins I offer You this poor heart of mine. Make me
humble, patient, and pure, and perfectly obedient to Your Will.
Good Jesus, grant that I may live in You and for You. Protect me in the
midst of danger and comfort me in my afflictions. Bestow on me health of
body, assistance in temporal needs, Your blessing on all that I do, and the
grace of a holy death. Amen.
