Suggestions please for diamond earrings

I have a pair of small diamond earrings in white gold. I paid back in 1996 maybe $500 plus for them.........maybe $600 plus I can't remember and they are probably 1/2 ct. total weight or 1/3 ct. I have never had trouble wearing them until earlier this year and my ears would get red and hurt so badly. I tried them again yesterday and wore them all night and all day and my ear holes are red now and hurting some...so I can't wear them anymore but I can wear sterling silver.....one of my ears is hurting with my sterling silver on too but my other ear could have a rusty nail in it and do fine.

I don't have any jewelry that I would want to put the diamonds in I don't think but what would you ladies do with the earrings? Sell them?
