Heavy rain which sounds like hail against the windows - I'm not hearing any thunder - but more lightening than I've seen in years.

It's been going for more than an hour.

Just got a "severe thunderstorm warning" that's expected last at least another hour - according to "Weather Bug."

------------------------

ETA:  Just saw that trucks, etc. are limited on local bridges.  60 mph winds expected.

Some areas in NY City getting 3 - 5 inches per HOUR and more expected..

Watch the weather channel if you have it.  Bridges are a parking lot - cars can't move due to flooding.

One of the indoor, roof closed courts at the U S  Open had rain coming in from the openings in the sides of the stadium. The wind was blowing it in sideways. The match had to be suspended because the court was too wet for play to continue.

A furious thunderstorm roared through the D.C. Metro area last night.  I was up but the thunder claps and lightning were frightening!

Not to alarm you but I must post this link to an account of the flooding and the loss of one life (and a missing person) that occurred in a neighboring town, Rockville, Md.  What the account does not tell you is that the person who died was a 19-year-old man who had saved his mother from the flood.

The apartment units were in a lovely and forested area.  These people went to bed last night not knowing that their apartments would suddenly be flooded and cause death.

I cannot believe this...

Had heavy rain all yesterday evening and night in upper SC.  Stopped this morning but skies are still cloudy and heavy.  Creeks were up but not over flowing this time.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

I believe the tweet explains the tragedy, it says the apartments that were flooded were basement level units.  How horrible.  The remnants of a wicked storm.

Also, please pray for all those in Louisiana going on day five who have no food, water, shelter and power in 100 degree heat.
