Sometimes I wonder if chain stores like Subway, Starbucks,,pizza places, don't cut their own throats with over planting. I live in a smaller town, 50,000 people spread out over a small valley. The business areas are concentrated near populous. We have 3 subways in town, not including a couple that split a store with another fast food. We have 4 starbux wishing a 2 block area. 2 are across street from each other. We counted a total of 11 Starbucks in town. We have 9 name brand pizza parlors in. 1/2 mile area. I don't get it. It seems one place goes in, competition goes in next door.
we have one InN Out in town, there is a line mile long, people come from all over, out of town to eat there. Same with chikOfilet , just one, does business from opening to closing, constant. These are a success!
seems some chains cut their own throats. The sad. Part are many of the subways and such are owner leased, so they are the ones that get hurt. They buy a franchise, then CEO sells more around them cutting the francises profits. I hear this from the owners all the time. Sad
these businesses need to think. What will they do when when economy changes, what will they do when customers tastes changes. Many people cut out useless carbs and chemically loaded meats and such, less customers. Then price goes up, and the other customers can't afford it

I ate at Subway two days ago. I had a footlong club with the Iherb bread (cheesy). It was delicious.
Sorry to see this happen to Subway - along with many other businesses.

I went to my Subway closest to me at the mall faithfully every day for three years...well, every other day. I lived their plain tuna.
And then the day came 1 year ago when they gave me stale bread!
End of story.

I never liked Subway sandwiches but we have choices where I live including local ones. I do like Jersey Mike's but haven't been there in five years.
We don't eat that stuff now.

Subway is what the customer makes of it, although processed meats, high caloric condiments, high sodium, processed cheese etc. are staples.
Veggies will not compensate for the rest of the selections.
Tried Subway a long time ago maybe twenty years and when the cashier wore the same gloves to make change as she wore making sandwiches that was it.
🤮

@San Antonio Gal I've eaten twice in the last two weeks and both times my sandwich was delicious as well.

What do you have to order to get a sandwich that looks like the ones they show in their ads?
I've been to a handful of shops in different cities over the past 15 years and the sandwiches were all terrible. I thought perhaps it was just a one-off so gave it a few tries but the result was the same - dry bread, with minimal "fixins". Guess I'm just unlucky.
I haven't been to one in a number of years and doubt I will ever again unless someone proves to me I'll get a good sandwich.

For some reason this reminded me of a visit to a popular hamburger joint in our city.
I got a burger to go on my lunch break. After the kid grabbed it off the counter from the kitchen (while wearing gloves) he placed the top bun on top and wrapped it in foil.
BUT before he did this there was a fly buzzing around and he took his gloved hand and smacked it on the counter and proudly said out loud GOT IT!! 😳
When I got in my car i took off the top bun and threw it away!!
@RescueLover I probably would have barfed right there.
I watched an employee making a milkshake in a blender and he poured it into the drink container but then used a bare hand to get the rest at the bottom of the blender into the container.🤮🤮🤮
This place made milkshakes to order and we could see the open entrance to the kitchen area
Not to mention he licked his fingers after.😮 It wasn't for anyone we were with but that's just poor sanitation training.
This is why we hardly ever eat out unless there is a family event.
