Some great ideas here!  Thank you!  I have 3 containers with lids and I would keep 1 for summertime food storage in the car. Thank you friends!  I do wish they would send food in a more environmentally-friendly way!

What Would be the more environmentally friendly way?

Most of the coolers QVC uses are so small inside they don't hold much.  They're pretty much useless.

Kind of surprised by your response as you often remind people that the food is coming from the vendor and not qvc. So the coolers come from the vendor, not qvc.

@LizzieInSRQ.  What difference does it make?  They're still too small.  I doubt they'd hold a 6-pack of Coke, certainly not suitable for a cat.  I haven bought anything sizeable, and you'd have to add ice.

They are also good for when you lose power during the winter. I've put one outside in the snow to keep my food cold and frozen.

If your freezer stops working or your power goes off they will come in handy.

They will keep things frozen longer then any ice chest.

I'm surprised at so many people throwing styrofoam containers away and you seem to be proud of it.  I just don't get it.  Throwing something away (and telling us how) makes no sense to me, expecially when there are so many uses for it.

I cut up styrofoam and put in big heavy flowerpots. I don't need to fill the huge things with dirt, so instead the bottom half I fill with styrofoam pieces and then put dirt on top of that.

@Sakuya great tip. I'm going to do this when my next shipment of salmon comes. I've heard Pat Dementri say she cuts up pool noodles to put in the bottom of her large flower pots.
