I don’t know why we only make it once a year. It’s so good.

I do not think I've ever heard anyone call it dressing in RL.
Never heard of Stove Top Dressing.
Sorry, but can't resist a Dad joke here @lulu1 ...No one would want an STD so stuffing works better on your grocery list.
A plus is that stuffing actually works well in stuffed pork chops. So it is a stuffing instead of a dressing.

Daddy was from the South.
Mother was from the North.
Both called it "stuffing" because it wasn't wet and mushy. It wasn't dry but it definitely wasn't wet and mushy. Why that distinction? Because they both described "dressing" that way (wet and mushy).
THis was one of the few food items they saw eye to eye on, lol.

It's "stuffing" for this Northern girl. :-)
We also say "pop" not "soda."

I make dressing anytime we have turkey or roast chicken, so that’s at least 6x a year.

That’s why Stove Top was created - because they know people would love it more than just at Thanksgiving. It isn’t that great right out of the can, but it’s passable/tolerable when you crave stuffing, and you can of course add any special touches you want to take the time to add, depending on mood and prep time investment.

My mom and grandma were pa dutch and we called it "Filling" and we always filled the bird.

I'm from the northeast and it's always been stuffing.

Mass native. It’s stuffing and you put as much as possible inside the bird so that the juices released as the turkey cooks moisten and infuse the stuffing. The stuffing that does not fit inside the bird gets cooked in a casserole dish in the oven and then you mix the stuffing cooked inside the bird with the left over cooked in the casserole dish.
