Authorities say a man is in the hospital after getting stuck in the chimney of a Silver Spring, Maryland, home that he was trying to rob.
It all started around when police were called about an attempted robbery at a home owned by Holy Cross [Hospital] in the 9000 block of Dameron Drive at about 5:31 a.m.
The man suffered minor injuries, according to police, who said that paramedics took the man to the hospital with a police “escort.”
This is a developing story. Keep it here with WTOP for the latest updates.

Many years ago, a young man went missing after a fraternity party before Christmas. He was found a month later, after students returned from vacation. He was dead, in the chimney. His buddies said he was probably drunk and playing Santa Claus. The robber is lucky he did not suffer the same fate.

I remember the case of a woman who got stuck in a chimney and died. And she was a DOCTOR! This was several years ago.
She was obsessed with a man who was not interested in her. She was stalking him, and when the man saw her car go by his house, he snuck out his back door and left. When she went to the door, thinking he was still home because she didn't see him leave, but he didn't answer. So she got onto the roof and tried to go down the chimney to get into his house.
Some neighbors heard faint cries of help, but thought it was just some kids playing. A few days later the guy smelled a bad odor and thought an animal got stuck in his chimney. He looked up and guess what?
The fire department had to remove the chimney from the side of the house to remove her body.

Our local TV evening news reported that the person who lives in the home heard "moaning coming from the wall and knew something was wrong."
The rescue squad had to remove one brick at a time until the man in the chimney was freed.
