@katie1859   That is one of the reasons why I would never get a

pedicure.  I have been doing my own toenails and fingernails since I was a preteen.

Would have been nice for your daughter to give you a pedicure!  I never go to nail salons anymore after a good friend got a terrible staph infection there; she spent four days in the hospital. I do my own now; one foot on the edge of the bathtub and I can see just fine with my readers... I use bright colors like reds, pinks, or corals. Makes me happy, especially when I am out wearing sandals.

I too always thought that I didn't need a pedicure and tried doing my own. But after having one, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the whole experience. So now that is my treat to myself a couple times each summer. It's well worth the money, in my opinion!

@bmorechick

Funny story.  I bet I'm the only person here who had been going to a manicurist every other Saturday morning for a mani and pedi and she "fired" me!

I was a long time customer, too.  Craziest thing ever.

One of my better features are my feet ( forget the knees and thighs!) and I like to make the good features look even better so I regularly get my toenails done over the warmer months.

There is no way that I could do a good job putting polish on my toes. I have my nail tech who I have been using for many years do a polish change for my toes.

I can't stand having a full pedicure done (I hate having the bottoms off my feet touched) so she just trims my toenails ( something else that I find difficult to do), adds polish and some cuticle oil. It costs me $15.00 to have this done and will last several weeks.

My feet look cute when polished with a nice sandal!

I've never had a pedicure but I did used to polish my own toe nails. Since I don't wear sandals anymore, I quit polishing them. I like the look of  polished nails but each year it has gotten harder and harder and since only DH sees my bare feet these days...it's kind of a relief just leaving them bare.

I'd have said no to my daughter and moved on as planned. Some people like pedicures and polish and others don't. It doesn't bother me one way or the other.

@Mz iMac  now that's funny!!!  He steers clear of all things beauty related.  Is clueless!

I'm sorry she teases you.

You can stop her comments in a nice way. Just ask her to stop and let her know it bothers you. Then smile and move on.

I no longer get nails done when I retired. I bought myself a foot tub and did my own toenails for a while. I find the Salon does a better job at getting rid of the dead cuticle. I tend to get ingrown toenails and don't have that issue very often any more. I began to go back last summer. A older woman like myself said it is cheaper than going to a Podiatrist to get toenails cut down.
