@Eileen in Virginia - I've gotten paper bank statements forever.  I thought about stopping but then Clark Howard recommended keeping paper statements and I continued with them. And I always keep cash on hand.

Actually, we currently have two world leaders - Russia and China.  You are right in that we gave up control.
