I'm not sure but the Adblockplus might only work if you use Firefox as your internet browser.

Kathy, nooooo...the caller ( who said he was from Afghanistan ) threatened to sho ot Americans and said that there was going to be a big explosion very soon, and since i had their number I felt it was a valid call to HLS. You can't be too careful these days.

Deb1010again, this incident is the honest to God's truth. I came her to get the word out to all that I can because some people might fall for the scam and allow the callers to take control of their computer. There are so many elderly people that have computers now, and they aren't savvy to what can happen if others don't look out for them. I know that there are a lot of posters here, so this was a good place to start, as well a FaceBook.

I know the "Windows" scam is a real thing and what DoobDoo wrote is very helpful. I just question parts of your story... the part where you claim the caller went on about Afghanistan, us killing his boss and asking if you watch Secks and the City.

Deb1010 ..this is the truth. I was shocked as well as amused when he said these things. But you know how women are treated in those countries if they show any skin outside the house, they are beat . They hate American women, I work in retail and get so disrespected from men of this area of the world..( sorry, but it's the truth) One time a man from Uganda actually spit on us because we wouldn't sell him a $20 handle for $5...we had to have him escorted out of the store by the cops.

Next time they call you back, do what I would do: buy an air horn and blast it in their ear.

I had 3 calls today from the same number in Michigan. I answered the 3 call from them to tell them to quit calling. He told me he was from Windows......and as soon as he said that I told him I didn't need anything from him......that Dell handles all my problems with my computer.....No problem getting rid of him. He didn't get nasty or anything like that. I did say that I don't want any more calls from them.

it could be informative googleing the caller id number showme. i wonder what you will find.

That's a good thought. Might do that. Will let you know. Will do that very shortly, so hang around for my response to that.

Heck, I get calls every week from a Bank Card Service.....telling me this is the final notice to receive help from them on my credit cards.....I usually don't answer those kinds of calls, but have picked up the phone sometimes before they are finished and then tell me to hit #2 to get help.....when someone answers, I say to them "quit calling me, I don't have any credit cards"......and they hang up. You would think they would eventually quit calling....but nope, they aren't giving up. I stand there laughing out loud at them, and say you are a fool.

Well, found out it isn't from Windows......and there are a lot inquiries about that number. Boy, hope no one falls for this..... Very sad that this kind of stuff goes on.

I guess you could call me getting old....in my 70's......but am still pretty darn sharp and have my wits about me all the time. Just don't fall for that kind of stupid stuff.
