Re: Strange but funny article about adding salt to tea!

We drink both but more tea than coffee.  Just milk, no sugar.

My husband likes flavored teas also, I don't.

[ Edited ]

I like coffee with my breakfast and iced tea with dinner and various decalf hot teas in the evening (Harney's Hot Cinnamon at the moment, yum)

I used to love a little coffee and tea with my sugar. haha meaning, I'd literally add 6 teaspoons of sugar to a cup of coffee and way more than that to a glass of iced tea! Now that just sounds yucky!

When trying to eliminate the sugar I started to put spices (cloves, ginger and cinnamon) in my coffee instead and that's how I've been drinking it for years....no salt. haha

And now I drink my iced tea unsweetened too.

You know I did have a friend who added salt to her coffee as her parents did. They were form South America. And I think they also added condensed milk. I tried it and it was wonderful. The salt does surprisingly reduce the bitterness.

One of my girlfriends husband adds salt to coffee. The first time I had a cup, I was amazed. It taste so good. No bitterness at all. I use the K-Cups, so I don't try to add in salt myself, but the few times I have been over her house for different functions and coffee is served, it's excellent.

Re: Strange but funny article about adding salt to tea!

I am a coffee and a tea drinker. As an adult how does one survive without it. It's my go to drink at work (smile)

The tea addiction is from my grandmother. She is from Trinidad and Tobago. Even though her country cut ties with England in the 60's she was very loyal to the Queen. While growing up in H.S. every morning before I could leave for school, I would have hot tea, bacon and toast.  Straight up black tea for me, with cream, and sugar.

I only drink unsweetened plain iced tea and like the bitterness.  I don't drink coffee or any hot drinks.  Weird I know.   But I sure like the way coffee smells.

I'm with you, no hot drinks for me, even in winter.  Like the smell of coffee and also coffee ice cream.  Diet Coke for me.  Not weird to me at all.

Re: Strange but funny article about adding salt to tea!

For black tea: BRING WATER TO JUST BEFORE BOILING -- WHEN IT JUST BARELY STARTS TO FORM BUBBLES. That way less bitterness is created, WATCH THE STEEPING PROCESS CAREFULLY -- if it goes beyond a medium amber color it can be too bitter.

ENJOY!

Re: Strange but funny article about adding salt to tea!

Black salt has been added to green tea and to black tea for different medicinal purposes such a intestinal discomfort and constipation. Specific to SE Asia.

I'm not sure about other cultures or countries but salt added to tea is not new overall.

I love my coffee! I will drink hot tea when I don't feel well, usually a flavored tea. I like iced tea in summer with a lot of ice and lemon.
