Re: Strange Request from a co-worker...

I recently started a job at a TV station. We had a get together yesterday to discuss practices, procedures and what we can do better.

No topic was off limits.

When we were asked what one thing would be like to see happen - someone wanted a water cooler. I wanted more recognition for new clients. Then a guy said that he wanted open carry in the building. He said that he felt nervous working at a TV station and having to leave his gun in his glove compartment. He said that he carries on all his sales calls (we don't handle money, BTW.) He said that we would be safer if we posted a sign and said that weapons were allowed and encouraged.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a strange request???

Does anyone (and I don't mean LE) work at a business where fellow employees carry their guns???

How would you rate the security for your building?   Does he have Management's permission to make sales calls carrying a gun?     Yes ..... it's odd.

This is what the world has come to. This may very well be the new norm. Sorry to say!

Yes, I think it's a strange request. No I wouldn't grant it. I'm sure many gun owners obtain their weapon properly and are stable individuals who handle the weapon appropriately, but all it takes is one whack job

Following that logic, alcohol should not be sold for consumption where people will be driving home.  It only taked one to cause a major accident, causing multiple deaths.  In fact, to date in Ohio, one third of traffic deaths this year have been caused by drunk drivers.

Re: Strange Request from a co-worker...

I think the OP made the whole story up so she could sneak in a poll about how everyone feels about CCW laws and the responses are part of her job in the pol arena, where as she has said on other forums, she is extremely busy right now until the elections,  assisting candidates during their campaigns.

I'm done with P.C. Just say what you mean and mean what you say. It's easier.

Re: Strange Request from a co-worker...

It seems strange to me. While there are responsible gun owners, there are also people who probably shouldn’t have one. I don’t know your co-worker or his state of mind. However, I’d be concerned that his fear would lead him to see ghosts where there are none and who knows where that would lead.

Re: Strange Request from a co-worker...

I know that many, not all, employees where I work do carry hand guns on the jub.  The drivers are often on the road, many times in not so nice neighborhoods.  None have had to use them, nor do I feel unsafe working with them.  In fact, since there is a homeless shelter accross the street, where criminals and sex offenders use as their address when registering with law officials, kind of feel a little safer.

Sorry, but you are wrong.

Who could possibly make up such a WEIRD story???

Also, since you seem to follow me so avidly, you must realize that the elections for 2015 are over and have been for almost a month.
