Re: Storing Summer Clothes--How Do You Do It?

I move my off season clothes to the spare room closets.  Shoes are rotated out after Labor Day, I do NOT wear white after LD!!  GASP!!

Having no kids, the two spare bedroom closets are for us to store our out of season clothes.

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, your right to say it

Re: Storing Summer Clothes--How Do You Do It?

Seems like many of you have plenty closet space.  But unfortunately, I don't.  Live in an apartment.  There is a normal sized closet in my bedroom, and a smaller one in my guest room.  I live on the first floor, but now I'm unable to go down to the basement.  That is where I have my off season clothes in plastic bins, stacked on top of one another.  These contain off season jammies, pants, and knit tops.  Store sweaters in under the bed containers with cedar strips and blocks.

Had been under treatment for cancer, and had to go into the hospital where I got those treatments.  Had and have to have my car parked by the valet.  Made friends with him.  He now comes to my home to bring the containers up to my apartment for me to change the clothes around, and then returns the bins back to the basement.  He's a gem and don't know what I would do without him.  Plus he does other things for me.

Here in Missouri we have the 4 seasons.  And right now we are going from warm to cool, and back to warm to cool.....Indian summer weather.....until it finally gets cold.

Have lost a lot of weight (was in some 2X and now I am down to a Large, and some mediums), and am now having to sort through things to donate....and starting over with having to purchase clothes that fit me.  Have to go through the coat closet and get rid of the coats I have because they are all too big for me.  Not sure if I can salvage maybe one of the coats I have.  Most of them are car coat types.  Have one lovely down that I know will be way too big for me.....and that I am sorry about.

Will be a happy camper once the off season clothes are taken care of.

Re: Storing Summer Clothes--How Do You Do It?

Empty next.  Large closets.  No changes from season to season.  And I am not a fan of summer clothes so my entire wardrobe goes from one season to another without issue.  I use the LAYER TECHNIQUE if there is such a thing. LOL

I do not wear shorts or tops without sleeves. .My dresses and skirts can be worn anytime, any place.

@Mz iMac  I never iron either.  I use my clothes dryer to iron out my clothes LOL.  In any case if that does not work I dont; really need the item of clothing.  I am not sure what I did with  my iron.  Someplace in the house.  Now that you mentioned it I will look.

Fortunately my closet has enough room to accomodate the warm weather clothes and cold weather clothes.  All our coats are stored in the coat closet in the foyer.

@San Antonio Gal......gather that you live down in SA.  My sister lives down there too.  With the kind of weather that has been down there, you probably won't be wearing much in the line of cold weather clothes.  Also has a large closet in her bedroom and is able to store all her clothes in there. Does the same thing you do with your coats.  She lives not to far from the USAA property.

I have to have several drawers in the dresser and space in the closet for her when she comes up here.

[ Edited ]

I have enough closet space to leave them all hanging.  I do change  the location to my easiest place to access.

Even though I am in Florida, I do change my wardrobe.

Our days are just as comfortable in ankle pants as they are in Capris.  Usually go to 3/4 or long sleeves because I like the more polished look!

Re: Storing Summer Clothes--How Do You Do It?

i have enough closets to be able to not have to store items by season.

my summer items hang with my winter items. it makes it a lot easier for when we have hot days in october or cold days in october.

i organize them by color first and then style (for example, red short sleeve tops then red 3/4 sleeve tops, then red long sleeve tops, then red crop pants, red long pants, etc.....)

Re: Storing Summer Clothes--How Do You Do It?

I have so many summer clothes and shoes because it usually gets hot hot hot here in the summer.  Warm weather clothing is pretty much a 8 to 9 month season for us, so I buy a lot of summer clothes in dark colors that go for fall and early spring.

Nowdays we don't have a lot of fall weather, and by March you are ready for the warm weather clothing and edging into summer colors.  So that calls for lots of clothes!

And yes ladies, ALL the white is stored and happy for the Labor Day to Memorial Day rest they get.   I kept out one pair of white comfy pants to wear around the house!

I’m like the French women and still wear white jeans in winter...mostly w/ blk. turtleneck & black ankle boots or black sneakers. No white pants, though.
