@millieshops

  • A friend who just recently passed away turned 100 a few months ago.

  • One of the nuns who taught me in high school just turned 110 years old!

When it comes to buying for any holiday, I don't buy anything that isn't edible or  burnable.

I've decided that since I belong to a tiny segment of the world's population, what I do most likely doesn't much matter to many retailers.  Even here in the US where we're more likely to live well into senior years, those of us older than 76 make up a very small percent of the overall population.  Strange in a way because if we're already in that group, we may well survive to 100 or more.

We were at BJ’s warehouse yesterday. They had Easter candy already out on an end display.

Walmart had the heart sleepwear out this past week. It wasn't front and center, but it was there.

I saw bikinis out at Kohls. I guess they keep them out all year round, someone

might be taking a trip to the Bahamas, but not me, that's for sure!

It's gotten to the point, with all their manufactured big biz "holidays"...

Every month has a Buy This Tschotchke!!!! Day....or other tabletop dust collectors...candles, lanterns, blow up figures, lights,ornaments, sentimental junk...

Corn-ballia for the masses.....

No respite. If there is no legitimate holiday in a month, create one.

Who can't see thru that?

At least we won't have to hear about that darn "red truck"or "Snoopy" stuff until Christmas in July ( which will start in May or earlier in 2024...).

eta: Forgot Throws, Valerie statuary, and Chinese made "Americana" for the Holiday, JIm Shore....he and Val have never met a "Holiday" ( real or made up) they couldn't turn out tschotkees for!!!

You are correct about needing a bikini. In the apparel industry there is a resort show. Orders are placed during that show to be on hand for those traveling to warm climates during the winter months.

Yup. That's how it goes ever year.  Valentine's Day is all up on 12/26 and Easter is up the day after Valentine's Day.  I do understand why retailers have to think ahead and get a jump on sales.  I don't rush my holidays or my seasons.
