My grocery store also allows the one at half price.
Honestly, my biggest complaint on pricing is it showing on sale and then discovering it rings up at full price and I didn't get my discount. It is really aggravating on items I would never get unless they show on sale.
Hopefully, upcoming digital pricing will end the mistakes.

My Walgreens does this. It's a bit aggravating, but I really love the convenience of having that store close to where I live so I shop there frequently. Depending on the product I may buy two or just pay for one. As @meallen616 posted, I check expiration dates. Don't want to buy 2 things and one expires before I open it. 🥴
Have a Good Day!

It seems Publix is adding more buy 2 get 1 free or buy 2 get 2 free and then there is no discount if you don't want all 3/4. With a household of 2 I don't need 3 bags of chips or 4 cases of soda. I will see if another store has it!

Nobody is ripping anybody off. If you don't like the terms of the sale, don't buy the item. Sheesh. 🙄

My Kroger does this but you have to buy FIVE to get the lower price. Yogurt was $4.99 each but if you bought 5, the price dropped to $3.99 each.

Our Tops does this!
Buy 10 bags of cheese to get the lower price.....what am I going to do w/ 10 bags of cheese, 5 bags of chips, or 5 containers of Ice Cream all at once! LOL
They also have coupons in the ad....which I noticed saves .10 to .15 on the item....and you can only get one! Gee, a whole dime!
Needless to say, I rarely shop at Tops anymore!

Don't know where you are..but here Tops was bought by my supermarket chain..Price Chopper. Believe me they really never "chop" prices.

My frustration with Walgreens is that when they have the buy two sales, there's only one of the item left on the shelf. Figured some things aren't meant to be.

@Sooner wrote:I must be old because this isn't a new practice at least where I live. Stores have to sell certain volumes to get discounts on what they wholesale. So to offer that price to you, they need you to buy a couple.
I don't see a problem with it. Just don't buy two or don't buy there, or don't take advantage of the deal if it doesn't suit you.
@Sooner you are correct. Especially at the Supermarkets. Nothing wrong with it. If it's something I want I always buy the two. You will need it later or give the extra to someone.
