It occurred to me recently that the dryer would make a nifty hiding place for my jewelry boxes when I'm on vacation.   What burglar would think to look there?   You could even throw some clothes on top so it looks like a load that didn't get folded.

I use my big oven for storing baked goods.   I got in that habit when I had a big collie that was a master counter surfer.   I use a Breville Convection Oven for baking.

Long elegant muzzle +  extra tall height =  look out!

Experienced that one time with a blueberry muffin and a friend's large Collie.

He was so sweet though, and obviously had good taste LOL.

Re: Storage solutions?

I use some of my kitchen cabinets to store holiday decorations. My husband cooks I do not so anything we need to cook with or host dinner is minimal. No breadmaker, pressure cooker or blender type stuff for us. So with empty cabinets some with multiple shelves we store whatever decorations we can't store somewhere else. We don't store them in any spaces that are too close to the stove though. We live in an apartment with only a couple closets that are totally full. We have no storage space in our building so we would actually need to rent some with the stuff we have in here but I don't want to spend the money.

We have two bedrooms. One we sleep in the other is storage. We make room for stuff by constantly rotating for holidays. The stuff we can't fit goes in those kitchen cabinets. We only have people over a couple times a year and no one

is aware of us doing this. They have no reason to because that would be snooping anyway. It works for us as long as we still have some kind of space we're good. I joke that if we run out of nooks and crannies and if it can't fold flat we're done because I'm not going to have a house that looks like it should be on Hoarders with nowhere to walk or turn and mountains of stuff I don't use.

Just remembered this very old "oven" story:

We were at a family gathering at my sister's new home.  She had one item, a tomato pie, that I really loved...but not cold.  So, I turned the oven on.  She had a fit:  that was where all her pots and pans were !  Not a very pleasant day  to say the least !
