Try this as a natural remedy for the "D."
I like risotto with chicken broth and peas, or my own "Oodles of Noodles" with soba noodles cooked in broth. Sometimes I also infuse the broth with a ginger tea bag.
Canned pumpkin is also good, if you can sneak it into things.
My #1 upset tummy food is mashed potatoes (no gravy).

Get some treatments the natural way from a registered acupuncturist; mine got my stomach issues straightened out and I am gradually getting off these awful meds. It doesn't happen overnight though and if you do go this route be sure to get references. Many medical plans are covering these procedures these days since NIH and VA hospitals have all approved and use them all the time.

Yes, the dr. did give me Zofran and thank goodness or I wouldn't be able to manage at all. It's not perfect but it sure helps. I have been taking Kaopectate a lot and I don't really think this is a good thing. Occasionally, but not all the time.
At first --- the first week and a half --- I didn't even want to eat --- I lost almost 10 lbs --- and I really don't have much more that I can afford to lose. Now, I'm at the stage where I feel weak from hunger and want to eat but the thought and smell of most foods make me sick. I always had a very good diet --- fresh vegetables, fruits, etc. And this situation not being able to eat and eat healthy is very upsetting to me.
I thank you for all your great suggestions. Many of these things I hadn't thought of and I appreciate it very much!!!
All of those antibiotics are going to be a problem. You may have leaky gut syndrome and probiotics aren't going to fix you as long as you're still taking antibiotics.
Any eating suggestions will just be a bandaid, not a cure.

I appreciate the tips and suggestions.
Unfortunately, I don't have a choice with the antibiotics due to the serious nature of my illness. I can't just take natural supplements and be cured. So, I have to take them. It's not something I want to do, believe me! So, I have to deal with the problems being created by them.
Thanks, again!

I think maybe a consult with a gastro would be in order. Have you had a colonoscopy??

Many stomach issues are caused by seritonin imbalances and a lack of it in the intestinal system can cause many problems (in fact 95% of seritonin is producted in the digestive system).
The younger doctors and doctors who are constantly learning now realize this and are therefore prescribing anti-depressents for that area of the body. This worked for me for years but I only discovered it when I found a Dr. who was also a researcher at National Institues of Health. Now that I have gotten involved with acupuncture my need for the dependence on antidepressents to help my disgestive issues is becoming less and less.
All the stuff mentioned here, in my experience, will do little or nothing to help your problem if it is as bad as mine was; it is more involved than most people realize.
Oh, forgot to mention, several years ago I was advised that when I had a medical problem that hadn't been solved by a local medical doctor, to try a Dr. in a teaching hospital as they have all the latest information. I am fortunate enough to be near enough to Johns Hopkins for help with this but there are other less prominent ones around the big cities.
I am wishing you every success AngelPuppy, as I know how frustrating a search for help can be.

I know my problems are caused by the meds. I see a gastro. regularly for irritable bowel and acid reflux, and I was doing fine before this happened. I was told by the dr. who prescribed these meds. that they are extremely hard on the digestive tract and to be prepared. As if one can be prepared!!!!

Yes, the meds often cause more problems than they help. If I have to take them and they are not now doing the trick or have caused problems, I would search further for something that will help. Too bad your specialist didn't constantly keep an eye on what was happening to you; wonder if he has had other patients who have had the same complaints.. This kind of problem can be one of the most miserable.and we will do anything to get relief. I suppose now you are left with no help at all; the thing that needs to be done now is for that stomach to heal.from the harm of the drugs. Maybe a bland diet over time will help that to happen. I doubt that any one here has all the answers; each case is individual.
