Dow is still up today at 37263. Compared to 2020 year end, when we were in the thick of one plague and ending another was 30606. Slow, steady, humble and thoughtful always wins the race.

Can't argue with the numbers.

Yes, confirmation bias. @RetRN  They take only what supports their agenda and reject the rest. Even if there is evidence or proof otherwise.

It's a case of those with a differnt viewpoint calling others who don't share that view "gullible".   But that's a favorite low ball term to throw around by some.

The argument that "they take only what supports their agenda" could be aimed at many.  And the implication that those who don't share a particular view don't do any research or check the facts is insulting.

Facts are facts.  There are no "alternative facts".  Despite what the self-proclaimed "non-gullible" would have us believe.

@JaneMarple   exactly.  They even bragged about greedflation.  They raised prices because they could and they were mericiless in their pricing.  Food prices will never go back to what they were before the pandemic but unemployment is under 3% and inflation is coming down and people's portfolios are up,   It's good news all around,    Our Econ=nomy is very healthy.

u all fight over just about anything....perfectly good threads get booted due to this

why in the world does it matter if others are wrong or right?

why would it matter if others agree or disagree with you?

so dang strange

state your view/fact/opinion etc.

let others state theirs.

not a back n forth claiming wrong and right

@CelticCrafter   You only lose money if you sell.  Any money in the stock markets will go up and down.   your portfolio more than likely will recoup any losses over time.

@RetRN   those folks you're referring to can say the same about you,  you're entitled to your opinion but not your own facts

It is true that the economy is recovering, but it will take a while for there to be a noticeable change for many Americans.

People are back to work, but their dollars aren't enough to afford essentials.

Credit card balances are higher than ever.  People are buying groceries and paying bills on credit. CC interest rates are between 20 and 30%.  Less if you have excellent credit.  It will take years for people to pay them off.

Housing costs which include buying and renting have skyrocketed.  There are so many homeless people and many of the homeless are working full time jobs.

Food costs haven't come down. Electricity is ridiculously high.  My own bill was almost $350 for the month of November.

Gasoline has started to drop in price, but is still high.  About $3.45 a gallon here in PA.

Cars are expensive too.  Used cars prices are enough to choke you. (We're looking to buy a used car for our granddaughter). YIKES, on the prices.

Insurance prices are up.  Charities are taking care of more people and running out of money and supplies.

People are still surrendering their pets because they can't afford them.  Pet food has gone up in price as well as VET care.

As I said, our economy looks better on paper than it does from the ground.  We are moving in the right direction, and I hope it continues.

This isn't just an American problem.  Europe is in the same shape.

But, yes I am happy the stocks are high.  Not holding my breath though.  I have lost a lot of money in the stock market before and made a lot too.

I learned not to  count my chicken before they hatch.

@manny2   and you are guilty of doing the same,  you don't like the good news because it doesn't comport with your own bias.  Why even Fox News was touting the good news - that's good news is and of itself!!!!!

How can you possibly know what I like or don't like?

I rest my case. Just pick out what fits your agenda and reject the rest. Thank you for showing the example of what confirmation bias is.
