The interesting thing about the purpose of masks is that wearing one is supposed to protect others from YOU as opposed to protecting yourself from others....so if the majority of people have stopped wearing masks then the purpose for them is gone.
Actually, it is surgical masks that are made to protect the patient, not the doc.
They are inexpensive, frequently given away, so many are just wearing the surgical masks.
It is the KN95 that protect the wearer.
Actually had my university students look up and talk about the difference: layers, types of layers, type of filtration occurring. Plus I brought KN95 masks to every class for them.

I still wear one sometimes in the grocery store and the doctors office. I keep a few new ones in the car and one in my handbag all the time!

I had to wear one a few weeks ago to a routine doctor appt. They still require them
Other than that, I haven't won a mask in quite awhile, I don't even remember when. I would if asked though. I always keep one in my car.
I occasionally see people in my area wearing them, but not many.

Yes, the VA still has gates at the entrance door, and a screening tent you pass thru for permission to enter. Masks are required for everyone.
My doctors office still requires a mask, but I don't have to wait in my car anymore.

@Janey2 Agree! Social distancing is my motto. I'm claustrophobic anyway and hate people standing close to me. And unless it is a proper mask worn properly, I see little value to them.

I don't wear one except where required. Most of the people I see wearing them don't wear them correctly anyway.
I laugh to myself at their neglect and wonder if they think they are really protecting themselves and others.

(thread title question)
Only time I ever wore one was when it was mandatory. I am not one ever believed all the rhetorical comments made by many, claiming they are facts.
All I needed to do was look on the inside of the masks I wore, for a short amount of time to prove it to me.
Many believe in them, so wear away.

I carry a few with me in my handbag, but rarely where on.

I wore them throughout the winter when I was with a large gathering during basketball season and occasionally wear them in stores.
I see quite a few people still wearing them in my area. They are still mandatory in ALL medical facilities.

If I am in a crowded area I wear one, like a theater or any other crowded indoor space. I don't care what anyone else is doing, I protect myself.
