Re: Sticker Shock at the Post Office

UPS used to be competitive with the Postal Service.  But not any more - my recent experience is that they're noticeably more expensive.  On the other hand, UPS seems to be more competent so we probably get what we pay for.

By the way, Staples ships via both methods and, for a given package, if asked, will quote both.

They charged $2.99 S&H to send it to me.

@rusted  Big corporations like QVC get special bulk mailing rates so they pay much less than we do.

Re: Sticker Shock at the Post Office

I love Amazon. Prime is worth every cent.

What I love about them for returns is that the money is refunded the second the label is scanned. The FREE return label you can print right online.

Getting refunded before I get back to my car is very cool. I have never had one incident where they pulled it back. If a package got to the post office or UPS and was scanned, they do the footwork to find it, not me.

LOVE Amazon!  I even buy groceries from them, dry goods, and toiletries etc when I can't get out to the store. Prices are comparable. You can even put stuff on auto-ship, and you get a 15% discount when auto-shipped.

Re: Sticker Shock at the Post Office

I have Shop Runner for free with my Amex card. I never even knew this until a couple of years ago. It offers free shipping and free returns on many web sites. I think it's 79 dollars a year if you have to pay, not sure.

I do look for sites with free shipping and free returns, wish more sites would offer that. I think competition will demand it more and more. I just made my first order ever from Evine, a ring. The shipping was $6.99. I assume it's via mail.

Re: Sticker Shock at the Post Office

When I return a Q pkg. at the P.O. they scan it. By the time I get home and on the computer I have a message from the Q that goes something like,'just thought you'd like to know your return is on its way to QVC!' I am always so glad to read that but WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO REFUND ME??? It takes forever!!!!

Re: Sticker Shock at the Post Office

I agree that the price of shipping things to and from the Q is getting too steep considering other places have free shipping and/or free returns.  I'm finding comparable clothing items at better prices elsewhere and getting deals on shipping, so I haven't made a Q clothing purchase in some time.

I have one in college and I shudder to think about how much I've spent mailing things to campus via UPS and USPS, but the sound of a voice on the other end of the phone line saying, "I got your package!" is worth every penny.  😊

@wildcat fan I used to send packages from home to my son in college too.I always thought of them as a hug from me and I too enjoyed those thanks mom calls.I think you are correct that those packages were worth every penny to ship....I used to include a few dollars to get a little treat too...always hoping that didn't end up as party money. My son has graduated and is working but I still like to send those occasional packages and include a couple of treat dollars as it is fun for me.

❤️❤️ Priceless!  You are awesome!  I'm sure your son will remember those packages many years down the road. 😊
