the movie is A Good Marriage.

A Good Marriage stars Joan Allen, Anthony LaPaglia, Stephen Lang, and House of Cards actress Kristen Connolly and was adapted for the big screen by King himself....

A Good Marriage is about 100 pages long, about as long as Shawshank, or The Body, which became Stand By Me. And I liked it because it was from the woman’s point of view. I think that’s why Joan Allen got involved. She saw it as a feminist story, with a woman who wasn’t going to just become a scream machine.”

I really like Joan Allen & Anthony LaPaglia!

b, I saw the clip of A Good Marriage on The View today and wow, that looks like it's going to be a whopper!

Stand by Me is one of my favorite movies, and the fact that it was adapted from The Body made it that much better. Whenever it's on, I have to stop what I'm doing and watch it.

Gerald's Game should be a great movie too. I figure you're right about flashbacks, but it will be interesting to see how they work it out.

I don't think I've ever disliked a Stephen King book or movie. Most of them are among my favorite books of all time. I think 11/22/63 is going to make an outstanding movie (or series; I can't remember what was said today). I read it last year and sometimes I find myself getting flashbacks of the book. The ending was so extraordinary I had to read it three times!

Love our Stephen King {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Re: Steven King interview on the view

I remember when Steven King was in a horrible car accident. He was walking down a country road near his home in Maine and he was hit by a driver. He was seriously injured and I'm glad to see he is doing so well.

I loved the novella Full Dark, No Stars. Although I liked Big Driver, it's not as powerful as the first story 1922. I can understand Lifetime make Big Driver. Its female oriented, but it doesn't pack a punch as 1922.

Re: Steven King interview on the view

My husband used to scoff at me "wasting" my time reading Stephen King. I'd just smile. When we watched The Shawshank Redemption and he raved, I said I didn't know he enjoyed Stephen King stories. He said it wasn't. I said nothing, went to where my books were and brought out my copy of Different Seasons. I handed it to him, marked at "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption". Uh, huh...blank look. lol

Then he laughed at me as I anxiously awaited each new installment of a little diddy called The Green Mile. He never asked me what it was about, because he doesn't like Stephen King. Then the movie came out. Oh, that was a different story, too!

Re: Steven King interview on the view

I love Stephen King, and how he makes the most banal things terrifying. Not all of his novels translate well into film, though. One of the most frightening to read was "Pet Sematary." That is what most kids want after a pet dies: not another one, but the same one.{#emotions_dlg.scared} And that's what he conjured up in the novel--but they're a bit....different when they return. Unfortunately, the film was hokey, and the cat looked fake.

IMO, "Misery" was one of the most successful film adaptations.

I really don't think he or anyone needs to give an explanation of who their father was.

I've read many Stephen King books and 11/22/63 is one of my favorites. I highly recommend it. I think it could also make a very good movie, something I am not usually in favor of for good books.

I enjoyed reading this thread...used to be a voracious Stephen King reader but stopped about 15 years ago. All your recommendations have inspired me to seek out new reads!

The PBS genealogy show premiered its new season last night, featuring Stephen King, Courtney Vance and an actress whose name I don't remember. All three had never really known their father and had no knowledge of their history on that side of the family.

King looked great and was very happy. Nice to see that after what he went through.

Most PBS shows are available online, if anyone is interested.

I watched the show last night. He was thrilled to find out about his family.
