Re: Statue of Queen Elizabeth

It's beautiful, like a magical fantasy scene. Adding the Corgis was a wonderful idea.

It's like the Queen had a hand in directing exactly how she would have wanted it created. Maybe it was a plan of hers.

I think its absolutely adorable, it has the Queen and her beloved fur babies that shows a hint of her sense of humor.

Of all the statues they have unveiled since her death, this one really captures the resemblance and personality of the Queen. The pups are absolutely precious. Where she goes they go!

Re: Statue of Queen Elizabeth

Thanks for showcasing this striking bronze, @Pezzie !    You got me interested, so looked it up.

Apparently, it's the first statue that's  been commissioned since her death, funded by mostly private contributions.  It stands in the gardens of the library in the town of Oakham, in Rutland county.  The decision was made to show her as a young monarch.

Of course, the corgis are perfect!   Since they're a Welsh breed, it seems fitting that the sculptor has a very Welsh name, "Hywel",  I think.

Meanwhile, the British government has plans for a national memorial to her, on what would be her 100th birthday in 2026.  It'll be fascinating to see how they depict her in that one.
