I'd look at it this way. You could catch it from someone on the plane who has it, is incubating with no symptoms at that point. Asymptomatic yourself....I'm hearing it takes from 4 - 14 days for symptoms to appear...you could unknowingly pass it on to others.
The way passengers are packed on to planes like sardines, no I wouldn't take the chance.
Someone at CPAC conference developed symptoms and a positive test after the conference was over. How many did this person infect?
You could be stuck quarantined or in a hospital in Miami away from home.
Of course, all could go well. It's a risk only you can decide to take or not.

I think that's a great idea. I know I could never drive 14 hours. I can't do more than 40 mins. My back and my legs go numb as well. All my doctors are an hour in traffic. I told my husband I don't know what we are going to do as we age. I am 72 and cannot see myself driving that distance in another 10 years
@shoekitty It is scary! Sounds like we might have something similar. I recently had xrays taken of my lower back and found that I do have some compression. The doctor suggested physical therapy, but I'm not sure if I want to do that right now due to the virus. I'm doing some stretching exercises at home that I was shown.

@haddon9 , get your Physiotherapist to email the exercises to you or refer you to a site on YouTube for the exercises. LM

@I am still oxox Sure go and have a good time and don't give a second thought to being exposed to it and passing it on causing it to spread . Until more is known about it, the right thing to do is stay home and don't travel. Everyone is more concerned about their trips and fun than the possibility of spreading an unknown virus to so many others who might die even. This is not just like the flu we can prevent or have ways of effectively treating!! Sorry this is not the kind response you wanted and is not said with malice toward you but is well beyond concern for the entire world and not just your life!!

I agree with you about being caller older, if we change today as opposed to next week it will be better as far as a refund from the resort we are going to since it is 20 days away we will get more of credit, their refund policy is:
• 30 days to 15 days prior to travel, we will refund 50% of the land costs and issue a Future Travel Credit for the remaining 50%.
• Within 14 days of travel we will issue a Future Travel Credit for 100% of the land costs.
Since we are within the 30-15 day and rates are cheaper in May we might be able to spend another night
Also the airline is no problem I check with them last night

We are much more likely to getting a cold or the flu. I think all the media hype is causing more worrying and panic that is out of proprotion of the actual danger of contracting this virus. Yahoo actually has a special category for coronavirus stories. We do need to take the precautions we normally would to avoid the flu,
If my Mother were 93 years old, I do believe i would take the trip to make sure I get to see her again.
I am "elderiy" (boy, I hate that classification) and my immune system has some issues but I would not worry to fly to Florida. You can wait to closer to your departure date to see the status. And I don't mean number of cases, but % of critical or death to number of cases. Many people die of the flu, but % in relation to number of cases is the criteria.

We are postponing until early May, by then I will be fully recovered from the double pneumonia and many other things.
and I never know you to be anything less than kind

I don't have any travel planned and I wouldn't travel at all now. Over the weekend I decided to cancel my volunteer work for a large scale event in the first week of April. I feel badly about cancelling but I have to think of myself and other people I come into contact with once I leave there.
I also have tickets to see Riverdance soon, I won't be going to that either. I bought the insurance, have never used that before. If they won't pay out on it I'll just eat the cost.
Right now I don't want to buy tickets for any concerts etc this summer, even though there's one I really want to try for. Too many unknowns right now.

Considering the things you list as issues, I personally would cancel the trip.
I am hopeful that this will settle down and pass on as summer comes, and even those with compromised situations can get back so some normalcy.
But if it were me, it wouldn't be worth the risk right now. And certainly not worth the worry, to be stressing about it.
People are just going to have to give in to the fact that they aren't going to be able to do everything they want to do, go everywhere they want to go right now, without some level of risk. There are going to be disappointments in lost opportunities and experiences. It's just life.
I personally don't press my risk level with things. I don't have an issue being 'that person' either. Others can think what they will, but I know what level of risk I'm comfortable with in everything in life from investing, to risky behaviors to virus exposures, and I do what I'm comfortable with, not what others try to shame me into doing or not doing.
Just do what makes you feel most comfortable.

Cancel the flight/trip. You are the susceptible people the doctors are saying should not travel...at all.

I agree that this will pass on. It's a moment in time, not a forever thing where we can never travel or be in big groups again. I feel fortunate to have a job that doesn't require travel.
