I would not go and not because I'm fearful. I would stay and take the recommendation  from the CDC about keeping clear of people and crowds, especially if you are 60+yo.

@I am still oxox   I just remembered that you were pretty sick not too long ago.  Didn't you have pneumonia?

If you are traveling for vacation, why not wait until the crisis is over?

I'm personally torn because as I mentioned I'm also traveling to Florida at the same time but  I don't want to bring home the virus to my sick husband but I want to see my 93 year old mother who might not be around for many more years....I'll probably push the visit back a bit.

@I am still oxox : FWIW, my husband,76, and myself at 75 flew this weekend from Tucson to Denver and back today.

We put some Clorox wipes in a couple of little baggies and wiped our area down. Also held it in my hand while on the escalator and holding on in the airport train or while touching anything.

That being said, we seemed to be the only people that we could see who did any of that. No one from what I could tell seemed concerned.

We didn't want to take the chance that we might carry something to our daughters causing them a possible health issue.

My husband has high BP but we are otherwise healthy.

As others have said, give your doctor's office a call to see if they have a recommendation for you.
Good luck in making a decision.

@haddon9

Thank you I had fluB and double pneumonia, at the beginning of the year. My husband is retiring on April 30 and I think we will wait until Mid May to take this trip.

@I am still oxox    I just heard that NIH doctor interviewed on this subject.  He said if you're a senior with health issues, you should weight your health condition against the importance of flying on a particular trip, then make a decision.  In your case, I'd stay home.  In three weeks, things are likely to be much worse.

I would suggest speaking w/your doctor's office.  You have to feel comfortable and safe.  Sitting in that big room at WCA waiting to board is more frightening than being on the plane I think.  I would like to believe the airlines are cleaning the planes better than usual.

I know Westchester has gotten hit, so to say you will be safe at home, I don't know.  I've been following the WP site on FB and I see the Mayor is posting everyday.

I'm driving back to Westchester for a school trip over spring break.  We leave April 3 as of now.  Our Italy portion has been cut.  I also have doc appts April 1 & 2 at West Med.  I'm more nervous about being in that building than the international flying.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

@roeroe1005

The temple that is Ground Zero is about a mile away from where we live, I am staying away from that area, and the Ultra Orthodox Community is very much unto themselves.

I am actually more frightened about W Palm Beach then Westchester

My doc is at Scarsdale Med in Harrison, which as a huge waiting room. I emailed her over the weekend and I am seeing her Wed, an appointment that was made way before this crisis

Ok all I am starting to get a little unnerved, we are supposed to fly from Westchester County Airport to West Palm Beach 3 week from today.

All of the news broadcasts are really starting to get me into a bit of a panic, do I stay home or do I go?
Please be kind with your comments
I am starting to lose it a bit

If you're that worried about it, I'd cancel.  My husband travels a lot for work and is supposed to be going to Dallas in March and April.  However, he just told me the other day that the company he works for will not allow non-essential travel and this is probably non-essential travel.  To be honest, I'll be relieved if it's canceled.  I don't want him to fly right now.

I would reschedule your trip because you are anxious about it. If it is a vacation, you want to be able to enjoy it.

@I am still oxox   If you had not been as sick as you recently were and hospitalized for a goodly amount of time, I'd say flip a coin.  However you were really ill (in my opinion) and if I was in your shoes I would delay the trip.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.
