Re: Starting Day 4 Of My News Blackout.

When it comes to 'news sources', I find the term "reliable" to be a relative term.

GOOD FOR YOU!  Welcome to my world. I made the decision a few years ago to control what comes into my "bubble".  I do not watch MSM (main stream media), disabled news notfications on my phone, and for the most part, I get no news.  It has been the BEST thing for me.  If I choose to look up something or peak at something, I do.  But, I always regret it.  I have missed nothing good! Unfortunately, most people do believe what is presented in the media.  I can only control me.  You will be a calmer, over all happier person without the negativity from news.  Smiley Happy

Re: Starting Day 4 Of My News Blackout.

I have limited my news intake since 2001.

I have very specific sites I follow on Twitter, one for local news, one for international news.

I know exactly what's going on, bare facts limited photos, and can research more when I want to.

I am informed, not overwhelmed.

Re: Starting Day 4 Of My News Blackout.

I’ve been a news junkie for the last 3 or 4 years but have had to seriously cut back on how much I watch. I find myself arguing with the tv or yelling at it and generally just driving myself crazy. On the days that I avoid all but the local news I feel much better.

Re: Starting Day 4 Of My News Blackout.

Good for you!  I began a news diet a couple of months ago.  At first, I cut way back, only watching it once a day; just long enough to catch up on the latest news and no more.  When all the rioting started, I stopped watching entirely.  It made such a difference in how I felt.  So many people were wringing their hands while I was blissfully living in my own peaceful world.  For me, I survived not knowing all that stuff.  It didn’t add one whit to my life or well-being.  In fact, being removed from it was the best thing I ever did.

It has been over a year since I just packed the TV away.  Get what I need online and mostly print only.  The longer the TV is on, even the weather turns frantic.

If I let my husband it would be on 24 hours a day.  If he gets up and leave the living room, I plant myself in there, grab the remote and change it.

I watch less than 1 hour a day and it's really not even what I would call news.  I don't watch local, I don't watch national, I don't watch weather.  It's been that way for years now, best thing I ever did.

Ditto!  My hub would have it on all day/night.  Some is ok but so much of it is negative and hateful.  Thank goodness we got a camper and are getting away from this 24/7.

Last Friday I decided to back away from the news and regain what sanity I have left. LOL

Today starts the 4th full day of not listening to all the BS being tossed around and I can say it has helped a lot.  I don't want to throw a shoe at the TV during every newscast.

Last night my daughter was on the computer and suddenly said  #$%^$# what the h*ll is wrong with people believing this krap.

I held up my hand and said, "I don't want to hear it.  If they find an asteroid streaking toward us let me know, otherwise don't tell me anything until I say it's ok. I'm on a news fast."

I'm going until this Friday and then maybe watch in small doses.  If I get where I want to punch a face, I'll stop again.  (I have never hit anyone in my life and never would)

I have gotten 5 drawers cleaned out and read a book I've had for weeks.

I'm a very non-violent person --- but I point my finger at the tv screen - and wish I could blow them away. The media loves to torture Americans.
