I wonder if this design should be submitted as a future Starbucks Coffee Cup design?  After all, I think it hits all of the highlights for that holiday (I am being sarcastic here...but only because santa, reindeer, snowflakes and pine trees have NOTHING to do with the Birth of Christ)

Re: Starbucks' Cup Controversy

First of all, I have not read all the posts here, too many to read!

I really do not buy that much coffee  from Starbucks, because it is very expensive, but I just think it is much ado about nothing!  I do not base my beliefs of Christmas and the birth of Christ on what is on a coffee cup, but at least they did keep the cup red!Smiley Happy

I make it a point to ignore businesses with my Christmas purchases who don't wish to outwardly recognize December 25th is a celebration of Christmas. They make their money off the holiday, it' the least they can do.

starbucks has a coffee called Christmas Blend.  They sell Christmas adornments for your tree.

Yes, they will offer product that makes them money. But, they don't wish it to be on their cups, b/c to be PC it may offend those who don't wish to be reminded of that.

Why just us?

What about people buying 8 days of Chanukah gifts for each of their loved ones?

How about all the Kwanzaa presents exchanged?

And if you haven't heard, Christmas has become a totally secular holiday for many Asian people.  They do presents, a tree and other secular symbols.

Don't they all get a special cup?  Why are we special?

Re: Starbucks' Cup Controversy

I didn't read through all the posts, but I believe if we didn't have 24/7 news programs we would never even hear half the things we hear about. Some of the complaints are ludicrous and the attention given to them is even more ludicrous.

@febe1 It wasn't always.  Before the church adopted the day as the birth day of Christ, it was a pagan holiday.  As Dan Hughes mentioned in his blog, the bible does not state the day of Christ's birth.

We all know it's a season, not a day.  People are complaining about the cups out now, not on the 25th.

There's a lot more to this time of year than Christmas.  Chanukah came before Christmas, and now we have Thanksgiving and other holidays.

Why do some demand it be exclusively all about us?  We look ridiculous doing that.

No business owes anyone special treatment and privilege.  And this is where the people who are annoyed with our society becoming increasingly PC refuse to understand it has everything to do with being inclusive in a country with very diverse beliefs.  These (religious) fanatics are single-minded and would like to see everyone adhere to their beliefs...and that is the epitome of arrogance, ignorance, and perhaps even bigotry.
