My son is interested in purchasing a set. Any suggestions? Thanks...

Does he have a space problem .... like a small closet? I wanted more room in my very small laundry room, so I bought two full sized units.... stand-alone washer and dryer, and a $30/$40 piece that allowed me to stack them. I've been very happy with this arrangement. Mine are LG, about 10 years old.

I've used them in commercial settings (Senior Centers, kids day care centers, restaurants)
and they were perfect choices. Real workhorses.

I have them in my beach houses and they work wonders.
I'm getting ready to purchase another one this weekend.
I'm talking about the kind that has the washer on the bottom and you open the lid, not a *porthole* on the side.
I prefer these over the frontloader options.
Lowe's and Home depot have one on sale for $1249.00
We're getting ours from Lowe's because they offer a 10% military discount (and for some reason HD sometimes won't honor whatever kind of military ID my husband has).
They won't take a king size comforter, but we wont have a king size bed at this house.
They do a great job cleaning clothes.
One issue we have with one at one of our rentals is it's loud when it spins. You can hear it spinning outside, sounds like a darn helicopter. !
I had a warranty policy on it and the guy came out and said that was normal, no problem with the machine. And there isn't. It's about 19 years old, used by renters, and is a workhorse.

I have had a GE stacked unit with a front load washer since 2011. It does a great job, lots of options, and have had no real problems. The only downside to many front load washers is that the door needs to be kept a bit open when not in use to prevent odors from developing in the machine. Keeping the door cracked isn't a problem for me, but if your son plans to put his unit inside a closet, it might be an issue for him.

This is the second home in which we have had full- size stacked washer-dryer. Love it! I hated having laundry rooms in two previous homes because they became catchalls. Our washer is a front load high capacity unit.

I bought Whirpool front load stackables about 9 years ago from Costco. I do not have them stacked in this house because they would block a window in the laundry room. I have been very happy with them. Never had a repair on either the washer or dryer.

I could see buying the individual pieces and stacking them. I do not like the all in one laundry center; usually about 24” wide, due to poor access in pulling small items of clothing out of the washer. The ones we used in condos at the beach always smelled, even tho the lid was raised.

I love my stacked washer and dryer! Saves a lot of space. I never had a front load washer before and it's wonderful. I got a set from Lowe's --- LG brand -- in wild cherry color. They are dependablel and beautiful! Have had the set for 1o years now. Awesome and I highly recommend!
