Re: St Joseph's Day for the Italians

@loispwrote:

My Mother's side of the family was Italian.  My family lived in New Jersey where we had access to good Italian food and pastry, which I love.  My family has all passed on and my husband and I moved to eastern Tennessee.  Have not yet found a good Italian restaurant here and there are absolutely no Italian delis or bakeries.  I am missing all things Italian!

@loisp  I feel your pain just over the line in GA.

I've tried once in a while with Subway's BMT to get my hoagie fix but I lose them when I ask for provolone and they think I'm nuts when I ask for oil and vinegar as my only condiments.  Apparently a sandwich without mayo around here is a high crime.

Once, I got excited when I actually found escarole in the supermarket.  The cashier looked at me and asked what it was so he could ring it up.  I spelled it three times until he finally gave up and rang in price only.  Never saw it again after that.    Smiley Sad

Re: St Joseph's Day for the Italians

I don't know if I missed it, but no one mentioned that S. Joseph's day is Father's Day in Italy.
